When you visit a dermatological hospital, the doctor will perform a physical examination of your body to look for any abnormalities or spots. They’ll then discuss your symptoms and answer any questions you have. Then, if your doctor recommends it, they’ll order any necessary tests. These may include bloodwork, imaging or a biopsy.

Dermatology has become a highly specialized field. Some doctors have completed a fellowship, which is an additional year of training that gives them advanced education and experience in a specific area.
