The 2nd AAMO Council Meeting of 2016 and 5th AGM was held in Brisbane, Australia from the 18th - 20th October 2016.
A warm welcome greeted delegates from Malaysia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau and India at the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) offices in Brisbane, courtesy of Ms Ann Messenger, then President of AAMO and her team at AIM.
Key agenda items included most notably the handover of the AAMO Presidency from the Australian Institute of Management to the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) for the new term. The Secretariat and Presidency of AAMO will hereafter be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from end 2016 until end 2019.
Newly appointed AAMO President Dato' Ng Tieh Chuan expressed his thanks to all members and his hopes to further improve upon the work carried out by the previous team. He shared his vision to increase the level of engagement and participation within AAMO for the coming term.
Other items on the agenda included discussions in relation to creating international member benefits and increasing connectivity between organisations' members, noting successful collaborations between members achieved through participation in AAMO, proposals for further activities to take place in 2017, planning for further knowledge sharing and publications and upcoming regional events and conferences to be organised.
The three-day programme closed with a tour of Australia's sunny Gold Coast. Delegates were taken to the top of Skypoint tower for morning tea paired with a breathtaking view, a visit to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to mingle with the Koalas, a quick stop at Surfer's Paradise for some sun and a scrumptious lunch at the Surfer's Paradise Marriot Resort & Spa.
