The 1st AAMO Council Meeting of 2017 was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 20 - 22 April 2017. The meeting was hosted by the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), also the President organisation and Head of Secretariat for the term 2017 - 2019.
Dato' Ng Tieh Chuan, the newly appointed President of AAMO, warmly greeted the delegates once again to Kuala Lumpur with a cocktail reception on the 20 April 2017 held at the Shangri-La KL. Delegates attending this year included Councillors and CEOs from the Malaysian Institute of Management, Australian Institute of Management, the Management Association of Pakistan, Management Association of the Philippines, Macau Management Association, Management Association of Nepal, Institute of Management of Sri Lanka and the All India Management Association.
The discussion at the Council Meeting revolved mainly around developing a new framework for the Management Capability Index (MCI), one that is more reflective of current practice and management trends. Aside from that consideration was given to the rolling out of the International Membership category for members of AAMO organisations, consideration to participate in a new kind of research for Learning & Development, and new activities to be organised under the umbrella of AAMO. Activities currently organised by AAMO include the Young Managers Program, Asian Management Game & Tun Razak Youth Leadership Award.
Later that same evening, the Malaysian Institute of Management treated their guests to a fine view of the Petronas Twin Towers while having dinner at Thirty8 at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
The three-day programme concluded with a tour of Malaysia's Administrative Centre - Putrajaya. The delegates visited the famous Putrajaya Mosque, caught sights of the many unique architectural designs that are the Putrajaya bridges, visited the Putrajaya Convention Centre and ended the tour with lunch at the Shangri-La Putrajaya.
