Mr. MELITO “Mel” S. SALAZAR, JR. was the President of the MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES (MAP) for 2013. Mr. Salazar was the 64th President of MAP since its inception in 1950.
Mr. Salazar is Chair Omnipay, Inc.; Columnist and Vice President of the Manila Bulletin; Chair of the International Center for Innovation, Transformation and Excellence in Governance (INCITEGov, an NGO founded by former Senior Government Officials); Chair and President of Quickminds Corporation; Vice Chair of PVB Card Company; and Director of the University of St. La Salle Bacolod and PhilsFirst Insurance Corporation.
Mr. Salazar served as Member of the Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Vice Chair and Managing Head of the Board of Investments (BOI), Undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Director of the University of the Philippines (UP) Institute for Small Scale Industries, and Associate Professor of the UP College of Business Administration.
He has BSBA (Accountancy) and MBA degrees from UP and has attended education and training programs in the Harvard Business School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and the Euro-Asia Centre, INSEAD.
Mr. Salazar is the first Filipino given the Special Honor Award by the World Association of Small and Medium Enterprises as one of the pioneers in SME development. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Diliman, Quezon City and the Rotary International District 3780. He is also the National Commander of UP Vanguard, Inc.
