A retired Major General of the Corps of Electrical & Mechanical Engineers of the Sri Lanka Army, Maj. Gen. Upul Perera is a qualified automotive engineer with more than 35 years of experience in the field.
He did his engineering and management studies in Sri Lanka as well as overseas, and possesses vast knowledge in both fields. He has represented Sri Lanka in many forums outside of Sri Lanka as the President of the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka, the President of the Sri Lanka Amateur Baseball and Softball Association and Vice President of the Institute of Automative Engineers of Sri Lanka.
He has held numerous strategic appointments within the Sri Lanka Army and was the Deputy Chief of Staff when he retired in December 2010. Thereafter, he joined the private sector and currently serves as a consultant for a leading company in Sri Lanka. Apart from holding fellowships with many professional institutes both in Sri Lanka and abroad, he holds a Master of Business Admnistration (MBA) and two postgraduate diplomas while presently carrying out the role of President of the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka and Councilor of the Asian Association of Management Organisations (AAMO).
